Doula Inquiries

What is a Doula?

Including natural, medicated & cesarean births. Our goal is to help you have a safe, positive & fulfilling birth experience, no matter how you choose to give birth.

What services do you offer?

I offer a range of services, including prenatal consultations, continuous labour support, postpartum visits, and breastfeeding support.

How is a Doula different from a Midwife?

A midwife is a licensed medical professional who is responsible for the medical care of the mother and baby. A doula, on the other hand, provides emotional and physical support to the mother but is not a medical provider.

What are the benefits of having a doula?

Studies have shown that having a doula present during labour can lead to shorter labour times, fewer interventions, and increased satisfaction with the birth experience.

How can I manage postpartum pain?

Managing postpartum pain can be done through pain medication, cold or heat therapy, gentle exercise, and getting adequate rest. Talk to your healthcare provider about your pain management options, and be sure to take any medication as directed. Applying a cold pack or warm compress to the affected area, gentle exercise, and getting plenty of rest can also help alleviate pain and promote healing.

What are the signs of labour?

Signs of labour include regular contractions, changes in the cervix, water breaking, bloody show, and increased vaginal discharge. These signs can indicate that labour is starting, but it’s important to note that every woman’s experience is different. It’s a good idea to talk with your healthcare provider to learn more about what to expect during labour and when to contact them.

Should I exercise during pregnancy?

Yes, most pregnant women can safely engage in exercise during pregnancy. However, it is important to consult with your healthcare provider before starting any exercise program. Your provider can help you determine what types and amount of exercise are appropriate for you based on your individual health and pregnancy status. In general, low-impact exercises such as walking, swimming, and yoga are safe for most pregnant women.

How can I support my partner’s postpartum?

Supporting your partner during postpartum can be done in several ways. Some strategies include helping with household tasks, taking care of baby, offering emotional support, or by encouraging self care.
